Natural-looking tooth replacement treatment in Islington
Implant-retained dentures are highly effective at emulating the appearance of real teeth. Rather than relying on the suction (as standard full jaw dentures do), they are secured/clicked onto 2-4 dental implants. The aesthetic impact of this is an aesthetic tooth and gumline and an even and symmetrical smile.
Your implant-retained dentures will also fill the hollow areas of skin where tooth loss has occurred and reduce the appearance of fine lines around the mouth area by providing improved lip support.
Your treatment journey
Prior to your consultation with one of our professional dentists, we can offer a free virtual or in-house chat with one of our friendly and knowledgeable treatment coordinators, who can:
- Give you an introduction to a chosen treatment or help guide you through various options that can be available.
- Listen to your expectations of treatment.
- Outline the costs involved.
- Reassure anxious patients.
- Be a point of contact for you throughout the treatment process.
Step 1: Consultation
Your comprehensive consultation allows us to understand the condition of your teeth and soft tissues. We will take X-rays and CT scans of your mouth and jaw so we can locate the area of the jawbone that will support the implant most successfully.
If you have low jawbone levels, we may need to carry out a bone graft, which will cultivate a healthy jawbone for future implant placement.
Step 2: Surgery day
Your implants are placed under local anaesthetic; you also have the option of IV sedation. Once implanted into the jaw, the implants forge a connection with the jawbone and heal normally in 3 to 6 months. We will ask you to come in for routine check-ups between your surgery and your denture fitting day so we can keep an eye on the healing process.
During the healing process, we can normally give you some temporary dentures to wear.
Step 3: Denture fitting
Your dentures are made and then ready to be fitted. We will show you how to insert them in and out so that you can clean them effectively. Your new dentures will be free of any sticky adhesives, and the minimal amount of denture base compared with regular dentures means your taste sensation will be much improved.
