Your treatment journey

Prior to your consultation with one of our skilled restorative and cosmetic dentists, we can offer a free virtual or in-house chat with one of our friendly and knowledgeable treatment coordinators, who can:

  • Give you an introduction to a chosen treatment or help guide you through various options that can be available.
  • Listen to your expectations of treatment.
  • Outline the costs involved.
  • Reassure anxious patients.
  • Be a point of contact for you throughout the treatment process.

Step 1: Consultation

Your mouth is examined to identify if a crown is the correct treatment option. We may consider placing a filling or onlay if the damage is not severe. The tooth is prepared, and digital scans of your tooth and the adjacent teeth are taken. We will also match the crown to the shade of your existing teeth.

Step 2: Placement

Once the dental technician has made your crown, we will book you in for a fitting appointment. Your crown is cemented in place over the top of the tooth being treated.

FAQs

1. Will my tooth look natural after crown placement?

Absolutely. The materials we use, such as porcelain/ceramic and zirconia, are fantastic substitutes for tooth enamel, so your crown will look just like your natural teeth. Your tooth is also slightly shaved down so that once the crown is placed, it will feel the same thickness as your other teeth.

2. How long do tooth crowns last?

The lifespan of a crown depends on factors like:

  • How well it is maintained.
  • How damaged your tooth was initially.
  • How vulnerable your teeth are to decay and gum disease.
